Believe it or not the History of the Pie goes all the way back 3,000 years ago to the time of the Ancient Egyptians. Today pies are baked all over the world each with their own cultural influence.

In Australia we call it the good old Aussie Meat Pie, in fact over the years it has become an icon of the Australian Culture.
Some years back it joined up with two other Aussie icons, to form the theme; “The Holden, the Footy and the Aussie Pie”.

While today’s, consumption of the beef pie and sauce continues to be in the 10’s of millions, a number of Australian “Pie Pioneers” have chosen to take the humble pie to the next level.

Now we have all too many pies to chose from and even gourmet pies which have become a popular choice amongst pie connoisseurs.

Such is the great choice of pies today “The Great Aussie Pie Competition” evolved, becoming a major food event held annually in Sydney & Melbourne.

In fact Pies are being judged all over the place at food fairs, town fairs, country shows and through media and other public events.

So one could imagine with all this “Pie Action” it would be a great challenge for any one baker to win a best pie competition.

Fortunately and after much effort and culinary integrity, Glenorie Bakery was successful in winning a series of best pie awards including gold, silver and bronze.
Many awards followed, then in June 2011 at the newly opened Australia’s Outback Bakehouse Windsor “The Sydney Daily Telegraph food editor of Taste voted their Beef Pie in the top 5 pies in Sydney.

“As a family business we are stoked” says Robert Pirnia (Young Entrepreneur of the year 2011)
We have worked very hard to make the best pies and we now know we are amongst the best.

Each week make thousand of freshly baked pies, sausage rolls and vegetarian varieties too.
I believe our success comes from making the lightest pastry, choosing quality, Australian, beef and other natural ingredients.

Unlike many of our competitors we bake in small batches throughout the day, this ensures the pies are not only fresh, but hot too.
I invite you and others to be the ultimate judge as it is said “the proof of the pie is in the eating”

Discover the best ever meat pies just a short drive from Castle Towers shopping center and Parramatta Westfields in the sleepy township of Glenorie, in the Glenonie Village. The best ever pies in Sydney are found at the Glenorie Bakery and they are so good good because they are baked fresh daily on the premises. Not many bakeries can claim that these days.

Owner Rob Pirina has taken the humble meat pie to new taste sensation heights! People travel from all over Sydney to buy them. Fortunately for those who live “just too far” for a daily trip you can buy freshly frozen family pies in the bakery freezer section.

This award-winning bakery not only boasts some of the most-loved bakery goods, sandwiches, pastries and coffee in New South Wales, but also holds the title of the “home of Australia’s longest sausage roll”, which is no mean feat. The setting is lovely and the vibe is friendly – despite the brisk, no-fuss service – and the beef and burgundy pie, spinach and ricotta rolls and sweets like the mille-feuille are among the specialities reaching cult status among Sydneysiders from near and far. A bustling spot popular with families, mothers’ groups, friends and oldies, this place is a gem and, according to its devotees, well worth a trip to Glenorie for.

And don’t just come out for a plain meat pie, try the Lamp and Potato pie, Creamy chicken and vegetable pie, burgundy pie and so many more.

But don’t just take our word for it, this is what some of our customers had to say;

Oh the bakery menu is the very best in Sydney and renowned in the Sydney Hills area.

Of course we are proud of our accomplishments and being voted best meat pie in NSW and being the home of the longest sausage roll makes us very proud!

Something people often don’t know is that we have a range of B.I.Y (bake-it-yourself) products, the family pies are great to pop in the freezer so you can have a little piece of Glenorie Bakery when ever you want.

But there is nothing like popping into the bakery for a pie, sausage roll or a quiche and sitting in our courtyard with the sound of the country around you.

If you are having a party we can supply bite size bakery treats, special occasion cakes and a selection of fruit, antipasto and cheese platters.

i was at Glenorie bakery last Sunday, it was a growers market day, the atmosphere was electric, the smell of their freshly roasted coffee and the fresh pies that were coming out rack after rack was just amazing i had never seen chefs in action like that before, the service was great and the pies are the best in Sydney (voted by the daily telegraph taste magazine) this is definitely a place to bring the family…!!
